I began my adventure as a beekeeper in May 2013 when I installed two nucleus colonies. One of the hives swarmed on Labor Day, 2013, and I happened to be there and was blessed to capture the swarm

These three hives made it through the winter without any problems, only to blown over in high winds during a storm during the night of April 2-3, 2014. Another beekeeper was kind enough to reset the hives for me, as I was 2500 miles away at a conference.

In May 2014 I installed 4 new packages of bees. Two were very weak and one of those two didn't make it past a couple of weeks. The other is holding its own.

As of October 2014, I have 6 colonies. This year, I harvested about 60 pounds of honey from the 3 hives established in 2013.
